Jessica Jayne is taking part in the following swimming races at the Rio Paralympics 2016
Thursday 8th September, 100m Backstroke, see Channel 4, the heats take place at 1:30pm with the final at 9pm
Sunday 11th September, 200m Freestyle, see Channel 4, the heats take place at 1:30pm with the final at 9pm
Wednesday 14th September, 100m Breaststroke, see Channel 4, the heats take place at 1:30pm with the final at 9pm
Saturday 17th September, 200m Individual Medley, see Channel 4, the heats take place at 1:30pm with the final at 9pm

Jessica Jane’s story – London Paralympics 2012
You will undoubtedly have read much about Jessica-Jane Applegate’s success in the Paralympics in 2012 – just after completing her studies at Venture (after many years and early mornings of hard training and travel) she succeeded in winning her GOLD in London. Jessica is also an accomplished artist and her photography work is on permanent display at the Academy for all to see. Jessica not only won gold, she also watched other swimmers competing alongside none other than Prince Harry! Inserted below are some press links to Jessica’s work and how her home town showed their pride. She was awarded her MBE in the New Year’s honours lists. We are so proud of all she has achieved! Jessica-Jane competed in Sheffield at DSE Juniors on Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd March
She broke 3 British Short course records there..… 50m free, 100m free & 200m free.
She and friend Hannah Russell were also the first ever British Disability female swimmers to swim sub 1minute in the 100m free & they achieved this together in the same race!
From there she went to Leeds and competed in the British Gas Championships on Thurs 7th, Fri 8th & Sun 10th March
She broke 3 British Long course records there….. 50m free, 100m free & 200m free
She was nominated Swimmer of the Day twice!
Achieved 4 gold medals & 1 silver medal.
From there she went to London on Tuesday 12th March to collect her MBE from the Princess Royal.
Trials are being held in Sheffield in April for the ‘WORLDS’ competition held out in Canada in August.
Jessica-Jane will have to achieve qualifying times at this meet to be selected as part of the British Team in Canada.
